The Neues Ufer (‘New Shore’), which first opened its doors in 1977, holds the distinction of being one of Berlin’s very first gay cafés. In the 1970s, it went by the name “Anderes Ufer” (‘Other Shore’). It continues to welcome patrons to this day.
Only a few steps away from Bowie’s apartment entrance, this café was a frequent haunt for both him and Iggy Pop.
